Happy NaNoWriMo, everyone!

Short post, because I need to actually get to writing. I have decided to participate in NaNoWriMo casually this year, to motivate to actually write some of this neglected story. My partner and I are going to be each other's accountability partners.

Though I wasn't writing (life got in the way), that wasn't for lack of thinking about the story. Parts of the story send the perfectionist parts of my brain into PR spirals, trying to get ahead of the worst possible interpretations of some of the plot elements. I'm certain that's one of the reasons I haven't written as much as I would like. Trying to balance the story I want to tell with being responsible with what I put out there is not easy, and I don't envy anyone who writes stories about imperfect people in the Year of Our Lord 2022.

That said, I have edited some things about the inciting motivations, which have been updated in their proper places on the home page and on Lilah's character page. Basically, I'm changing Lilah from having a specific theory of targeting specific humans (made me kind of uncomfortable to justify in the story even with naïvete) to a general theory that succubi don't let themselves be vulnerable enough (will not work for all succubi, so is more easily criticized as Lilah simply being very empathetic.) Additionally, I'm adding a detail that Lilah has several failed seductions as a result of not opening up and communicating with people she was interested in. This way, when she overcorrects with Io, she is both more on the right track and still not understanding what is required of true intimacy: that being personal, malleable, and realistic expectations.

I will not change that succubi need intimacy for food, or that demons have generally fucked up motivations. That needs to stay, for reasons that I hope will be apparent when the story actually gets written. Chrissa is also going to stay a bad person, because I love her, and I need her to suck.

I'll sign off here. I'm medicated, I'm getting settled in a job schedule, and I'm at least somewhat motivated to get some work done. Cheers.
